SUMBA HOUSE

Project type

Boutique Hotel and Apartments

Date

2024

Location

Bali, Indonesia

Sumba House is a 80-room, 5-star hotel located in Sumba, Indonesia, epitomizing a luxury lifestyle development that integrates with the natural terrain to conserve the cultural and indigenous landscapes.

Nestled within 20 acres of the rolling hills of Bali and boasting expansive views of the Indian Ocean, the architectural design harmoniously melds with its surroundings, fostering a profound connection with the locale. This project is envisioned as a legacy endeavor, balancing the significant investment by enhancing features and increasing density to accommodate a 1.2-million-square-foot luxury lifestyle development. This includes marketable residences designed to fund the operation of the five-star hotel on the site.

Our design approach is acutely aware of cultural, environmental, and resource considerations, especially given its proximity to the revered Tanah Lot temple. Drawing inspiration from the terraced rice paddies typical of Bali and those encircling the development, our project is crafted to appear as though it naturally exists within a rice paddy. This respects and preserves the ancient agricultural traditions of Bali, cleverly integrating new structures into the landscape to minimize visual disruption.

The architecture reflects that of a traditional Balinese village and temple, featuring 80 luxury villas each offering ocean views and sustainable green roofs, alongside a collection of pavilions nestled within indigenous gardens.

The resort is poised to become a top-tier global destination that captures the vibrant spirit of Bali. It includes a 10,000-square-foot spa, a cutting-edge beach club, and a new, ultra-premium golf clubhouse that complements the existing 18-hole signature golf course.
